Llangoed Circular

This is a fairly gentle 11.5 km walk along parts of the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path in the Llangoed area and should take around 4 to 5 hours at a steady pace. There is a limited amount of walking on quiet roads.

Start at Llangoed Village car park at Grid Reference SH609798. Turn right and head along the footpath in front of Tafarn y Rhyd parallel to the Glan-yr-afon road. At the end turn left to the main road turn right to Nant Heilyn Caravan Park at SH606801 and then left along Lon Dwr reopened in memory of Ramsey Clark to the end at SH602798. Turn right following the road past Penhwynllys Bach. At this property take the footpath heading past Penhwynllas Plas to the settlement at SH595811 and take the road around to the right to rejoin the Coastal Path at SH597813 passing Mariandyrys Nature Reserve on the right into Caim to Parc Trwyn Du where a right turn will take you towards Penmon Lighthouse and at SH633811 turn right to Penmon Priory at Grid Reference SH631807.

From here head along the Coastal Path towards Beaumaris to Lleiniog. At SH620790 head inland along the new Castell Aberlleiniog footpath towards Llangoed. This island monument has been opened to the public and is well worth a visit. The path up to the Castle is signposted off the new path. This path takes you back into the car park

During this walk it is possible to make short detours to visit Bwrdd Arthur Fort and Penmon Lighthouse. Tafarn Y Rhyd is open Monday
