Mynydd Bodafon Circular

This is a lovely route taking in all the walking environments that the island offers – coast, mountain, woodland forest and farmland. It is a walk of 11kms (6.8 miles) and is a good test for the average walker which should take some 4.5 to 5 hours to complete with rest stops.

Start at the car park on Traeth Lligwy beach (SH495870) and head in a northerly direction following the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path to Porth y Mor. At SH492880 take the path heading inland towards Brynrefail passing Pen yr Allt and Capel Elan Caravan Park with a small stretch of road walking at SH483872 before reaching the A5025 at Brynrefail (SH480868). Cross the road, walk up the steps by the gift shop picking up the path here and head towards Fedw (SH478864) then Tyn y Mynydd heading past the parking area to the country road at SH470851

At this point turn right and follow the road down the hill towards Tan yr Arwydd to a right hand bend where the path goes off the road on the right at SH472851 onto a track with Mynydd Bodafon on the right hand side. At the start of the forest, turn left at the way marker and head down through the trees towards Caerhoslligwy, taking care as it can be quite boggy through the wooded area. At the bottom of the hill , cross the bridge at SH481844 and follow the path past Caerhoslligwy towards Tyddyn Isaf at SH485852. Follow the way markers through this farm picking up the track along to Cae-brych Caravan Park. Cross the country road at this point (SH486859) heading past Creigiau to the A5025 at SH487863. Turn left along the A5025 up the slope until the sharp left hand bend ahead and pick up the next footpath on this corner at SH486865 then turn right at SH485867 along the path which takes you back to Traeth Lligwy beach. Again turn right onto the Coastal Path at SH495871 and head back the short distance to the car park.
